Timothy Douglas, Jr.
May 16, 1996 – April 25, 2019
“People die, but legends live forever.” 2Pac
Timothy Douglas, Jr. was born May 16, 1996, to Timothy Douglas, Sr. and Joycequeline Wooden. Timothy was welcomed into this world with sunny skies and a slight breeze in the air. He grew up in Donaldsonville, Louisiana and attended Donaldsonville High School. Given his athleticism, he played for the Donaldsonville Tigers, his school’s football team. He dreamed of pursuing a career in football at the professional level. He also excelled at running, basketball, and weightlifting. He was an avid fan of rap music and enjoyed making his own songs. His musical influences were 2Pac and local New Orleans rappers.
Timothy was an extremely outgoing young man with a vivid imagination and a big heart. His mother remembers that he could tell such a compelling and descriptive story a person could believe it was reality, although it was simply a product of Timothy’s expansive creativity. One of his younger sisters recalls when she was riding her bike and was moments from falling, but Timothy caught her just in time. He would do anything to protect his little sisters and was someone they could rely on for a sense of security. Timothy was lovingly described as being “the best big brother EVER.” Timothy used to say, “It’s the CLAWWW!” when he would playfully tickle his little sisters. One thing A’Myria said she learned from Timothy was to “always stay to myself, and get money.”
Timothy looked up to his maternal and paternal grandfathers, who were both a part of his life. Timothy cared for and respected his late grandfathers, who were instrumental figures while he was growing up. He loved his mother dearly. She fondly recalls that he was so attached to her when he was a child that he would cry when she dropped him off at daycare or school. He used to sit on her lap and place his little hands on her face. She often dreams about Timothy, stating, “Those dreams always feel so personal as if he is still alive.” Before his passing, she wondered which was worse—worrying about a person or missing them. She shared that Timothy’s death taught her that missing someone hurts infinitely more.
To those closest to him, Timothy is remembered as a promising athlete, a future rapper, a loving big brother, a devoted grandson, an adoring son, a genuine friend, and the ultimate hype man. He was smart, straightforward, savvy, adaptable, and brave. He leaves behind a lasting legacy worthy of being remembered and cherished, and his presence will be truly missed.
Timothy Douglas, Jr. departed this life while incarcerated on April 25, 2019. He was twenty-two years old. He is survived by his parents Timothy Douglas, Sr. and Joycequeline Wooden; his two sisters A’Myria Branch and Za’Kayla Wooden; and his two grandmothers Joyce Ann Fowler and Laverne Douglas.
